Timara Plantation Suite
Kewarra Beach Resort & Spa, Cairns, has a private guest suite named Timara. In Aboriginal folk lore Timara is the home of the guardian spirit. Timara is a superbly restored pioneer cottage built in the early 1900s from hand cut cedar from the Daintree Rainforest. The cottage was brought from Daintree Village, 70 miles north of Cairns, to a promontory of the Resort's freshwater lagoon where its private gardens are surrounded by water on three sides.
The lagoon is a sanctuary for birds and fish and a timber footbridge across it links Timara to the rest of the Resort facilities. The cottage has two double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a spacious living room and 3 meter wide verandas. Furnished to match its era with handcrafted pieces made by local carpenters.
